Georgia offers plentiful employment opportunities in the thriving agriculture industry historically present throughout the state. Peaches constitute a primary example of the traditional farming ties the region possesses. In the late 1800s, the state became widely associated with the fruit due to extensive cultivation, which ultimately led to the official nickname: The Peach State. As of 2014, farmers still grow more than 2 million bushels of the pitted fruit annually. Grain, corn, and cotton production also remain significant in the state. In addition to crops, prominent farming-related exports include eggs and poultry. Widespread job openings prove available in the cultivation, harvesting, and sales of each individual crop.
Peanuts remain one of the most prominent crops in the state. The peanut occupation became famously associated with the state as the prior vocation of former U.S. President Jimmy Carter. Georgia stands as the top producer of peanuts in the United States. Annual production levels frequently rise as high as over 1 billion pounds. The state persists in generating about 45 percent of the legumes produced by the nation. Consequently, applicants consistently find work as the large industry continues to flourish.
Prospects for gainful employment remain high in the Georgia agricultural industry. Jobs often prove available to interested individuals, regardless of credentials. Entry-level positions, such as farmhand and migrant worker roles, simply require applicants to possess sufficient availability and reliable transportation to work. Positions may stand open to hopefuls as young as 12 years old with parental consent.
