Working in Colorado
Like many states in the Rocky Mountain region, Colorado maintains an agricultural industry primarily reliant on cattle and livestock. Since 2007, almost 40,000 farms reaching across over 30 million acres of land constitute almost 50% of the total territory in the state. Accounting for about 60% of agricultural production, livestock products include beef, pork, lamb, and turkey. Other major Colorado crops include various forms of wheat, corn, hay, and dairy products. The Centennial State ranks first in U.S. production of the common livestock feed proso millet and third in sheep, lamb, and potatoes. Overall, Colorado provides over 170,000 jobs to workers in the farming industry and rakes in about $40 billion from agricultural production. Interested workers may assume roles within the growing beekeeping industry, amid over 36,000 colonies throughout the state.
Farmers and agribusiness companies need to hire every type of agricultural employee. Migrant workers, fruit and vegetable pickers, and entry-level farmhands stand good chances to work in the Colorado agricultural industry. As cattle and livestock dominate the industry, numerous part- and full-time farming jobs provide experienced and entry-level job seekers plenty of lucrative employment options.
