A Working Holiday Authorisations visa allows travelers to earn wages during a stay in Ireland. The Ireland work visa process varies by country of origin. For instance, U.S. travelers must apply through different channels than travelers from the EU. Only casual or temporary work may result from a Working Holiday Authorisations visa to Ireland. Temporary workers wishing to remain in Ireland longer than 90 days must procure a garda (police) registration card from the Garda National Immigration Bureau.
Ireland maintains work visa schemes with several countries throughout the EU as well as the U.S., Canada, Australia, Argentina, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, and South Korea. Travelers to Ireland must hold a valid passport from the country of origin, and the passport may not expire while in Ireland. Work visa applicants to Ireland must prove financial ability to survive without work during the time desired and must maintain a set amount of money in a bank account or a return ticket to gain entry. Ireland immigration offices will confirm financial responsibility prior to acceptance.
Most Ireland holiday work visa permits require applicants aged 18 to 30, though some applicants may find age limits set from 18 to 35. Ireland may occasionally give special considerations to older workers. The primary reason for a Working Holiday Authorisations visa in Ireland must entail a holiday and not work. Applicants must meet health criteria to gain admittance to Ireland on a work visa. Further documentation may prove necessary for any applicant seeking a Working Holiday Authorsations visa to Ireland.
Acceptable reasons for obtaining visa permits vary. Applicants may apply for working visas, business visas, study visas, and traveling visas. Fees for the different types of visas depend upon frequency of visits. A single journey incurs a 60-euro fee. Multiple journeys incur a 100-euro fee. Transit applications incur 25-euro fees.
Internationals seeking employment in Ireland may also apply for citizenship. After completing the naturalization process, applicants may work and live in Ireland freely. Ireland offers separate applications for internationals under and above 18 years of age. Applicants must complete all parts of the application process in order to obtain full citizenship. Newly appointed Irish citizens reserve all rights and responsibilities of full citizens of Ireland. Ireland may refuse any application on grounds outlined by Irish law.
